June was a blurrr! I’m revving up to be OUTSIDE this summer!

📍Slide 5: A few years back, Alex and I made a pact that any work trip no matter how long the day we’d carve out a second for some sort of adventure. The aquarium was right next door so we did it!

📍Slide 6: My Cinderella moment uptown. Lost a shoe on the train, don’t know why I kept the other one like I’m still waiting for Prince Charming. But maybe @jeffreycampbell could save the day!

Before and After!!
The ugliest corner of my yard just got a serious glow up thanks to the Yardsaver® shed by Arrow Storage Prodcuts from @shelterlogicdirect . I’ve wanted a shed from the moment I moved into my Brooklyn apartment. It’s NYC so critter control is a must!! I used the trench method: dug an 18-inch deep perimeter around the base, lined it with hardware cloth, and backfilled to help block any burrowing pests. Now my very long seat cushions live right next to the sectional they go on, and I’ve finally got space to clear out some overflow from my apartment. Follow along, I’ll be attaching that hardware cloth to the shed base with a trim piece, and adding some plants to make the whole corner extra cute. Arrow Storage Products is celebrating their 80th Anniversary this year so make sure to check them out for all of your outdoor storage needs.

You don’t need a huge yard to create an outdoor living room. An anchor piece changes everything. For me, it’s the Sojag Pergola. It gives structure, shade, and a little bit of summer magic.

Barefoot in New York? Not an option. So I slipped

Barefoot in New York? Not an option. So I slipped my makeup bag on like a little slipper and kept it moving.
But let’s rewind.
I don’t get invited to nights like this often. When I do, I soak it in, the music, the skyline, the crowd moving effortlessly through a rooftop evening that felt borrowed from an uptown life I don’t live. I’m a Brooklyn girl. Earlier that day, I was literally slinging 50 lb bags of mulch around my garden. (More on that soon 💚stay tuned.)
So when @homeworthy threw this rooftop soirée with @thomasvilleofficial , I showed up feeling like my more polished alter ego. It was such a beautiful night, I decided to take the subway home. On the way, I ran into the cutest man who recognized me and introduced me to his nieces as a famous designer. I laughed, but let’s be honest, it gave me a little extra pep in my step.
Maybe too much pep.
Because the moment I stepped into the train, my heel somehow stayed behind, slipped straight down to the tracks. My bare foot hit the subway car for 2.2 seconds and I wanted to vomit.
I hobbled to the bench, dumped out my makeup bag, and slipped it over my foot like a life-saving slipper.
Honestly, makeup has changed my life in so many ways, it’s only right that the makeup bag came through in the clutch.
I limped home, and in true New York fashion, no one even blinked, except for the man who saw it all happen. He was cracking up. Everyone else just kept it pushing. Aaaarghhhh, I can’t be the only clumsy one here, who else has #clumsychronicles? I wanna hear about it in the comments!

An ant crawled across my face while I was sleeping!!! That was all the motivation I needed to deep clean under my bed.

Vacuumed. Mopped. Sprinkled a generous line of diatomaceous earth (aka microscopic barbed wire for bugs, they crawl through it and basically shred themselves). Might’ve overdone it, but I don’t play when it comes to surprise guests. Beds are invitation only.

Between NYC’s mandatory composting and this weird weather, the ants are already full, and ignoring my borax bait. So I’m being forced to take other measures.

Also, shoutout to my Malm hatchback bed, @ikeausa one of my favorite storage solutions. Did I sleep in the bed after seeing that ant? Would you? The jury’s still out.

Couldn’t find an outdoor cowhide rug, so I made one! I freehanded the shape, and laid it right on my curvy little deck. I love the way cowhides break up space with soft, organic lines. It’s a simple DIY with a big payoff, and it’s totally washable.

I hunted down Chris Hansen. Not the one who would be like “have a seat” from To Catch a Predator ( I used to LOVE that show— get ‘em Chris!). I hunted down Chris Hansen the plant whisperer hybridizing the most jaw dropping groundcover color I’ve ever seen. I used all the techniques I learned from watching the other Chris Hansen, and went full stakeout mode!!! The thing is, when you’re a lazy gardener with a love for bold, low maintenance color you’ll find the source!! My days of mowing, pruning, and weeding are numbered. I wanna spend more time sipping my coffee with my feet up in my garden!!! Right!!!!???

Oh and as soon as I was ready to post this I saw that Chris and his team have debuted a new cherry red sedum. @gardensolutionsfamily check your DM’s!! 😍 I want cherry red!!!! Would this be a good collab!!!??? Tap yes or no.
